AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 155

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 155 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the following:

"Section 5. The Barber, Cosmetology, Esthetics, Hair Braiding, and Nail Technology Act of 1985 is amended by adding Section 2-10 as follows:

(225 ILCS 410/2-10 new)

Sec. 2-10. Business practices. A licensed barber is required to wear single-use, disposable gloves when shaving any part of a person's face, neck, or hairline to prevent any blood or bodily fluids that may transmit an infection from one person to another. A violation of this Section shall be grounds for disciplinary action under Section 4-7 of this Act.

For the purposes of this Section, "disposable gloves" means gloves made of latex or similar sanitary material meant for single-use.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.".
