AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 3261

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 3261 on page 34,
3after line 13, by inserting the following:
4    "(c-5) After the effective date of this amendatory Act of
5the 97th General Assembly and until the end of the transition
6period described in subdivision (d)(1) of this Section, persons
7licensed as a First Responder are deemed to be licensed as an
8Emergency Medical Responder, persons licensed as an Emergency
9Medical Technician-Basic or "EMT-B" are deemed to be licensed
10as an Emergency Medical Technician or "EMT", and persons
11licensed as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic or
12"EMT-P" are deemed to be licensed as a Paramedic."; and
 
13on page 34, line 23, after the period, by inserting the
14following: "Within 270 days after the effective date of this
15amendatory Act of the 97th General Assembly, the Department
16shall establish by administrative rule a transition period of
1724 months for EMS Systems within each EMS Region to educate all

1actively licensed and certified EMS personnel to transition to
2the requirements as established by the National Emergency
3Medical Services Education Standards. All new EMS coursework
4applied for after January 1, 2013 must meet the minimum
5requirements as established by the National Emergency Medical
6Services Education Standards, except that the EMT-Intermediate
7to Paramedic bridge course may be applied for utilizing the
8U.S. Department of Transportation National Standard Curricula
9through December 1, 2016.".
