| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply | 3 | | saddened to learn of the death of Eugene D. "Curly" Funk III of | 4 | | Bloomington, who passed away on November 12, 2012; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Eugene Funk III was born on December 17, 1934, in | 6 | | Normal to Eugene D. and Maeotta Divilbis Funk Jr.; he married | 7 | | Barbara Ann Felmley on June 10, 1960, in Bloomington; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Eugene Funk III graduated from Bloomington High | 9 | | School in 1952; he attended the University of Illinois, where | 10 | | he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, the University of | 11 | | Arizona, and Illinois Wesleyan University; he served in the | 12 | | U.S. Army and worked for Funk Seeds International; he was the | 13 | | former director of Funk Farms Trust, Funk Homestead Trust, and | 14 | | the Paul A. Funk Foundation; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Eugene Funk III was an avid golfer and was a | 16 | | four-time champion of the Bloomington-Normal Match Play and a | 17 | | two-time champion of the Bloomington-Normal Medal Play; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Eugene Funk III was preceded in death by his | 19 | | sister, Sara Funk Wells; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Eugene Funk III is survived by his wife, Barbara; |

| 1 | | his sons, Eugene D. Funk IV and John Benjamin Funk; his | 2 | | grandchildren, Conner Cox, McLean Funk, and Davis Funk; his | 3 | | brother-in-law, March Wells; and dear friends, Marlene and | 4 | | Keith Woodruff; therefore, be it
| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 6 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 7 | | Eugene Funk III, and we extend our sincere condolences to his | 8 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 9 | | further
| 10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 | | presented to the family of Eugene Funk III as an expression of | 12 | | our deepest sympathy.
