| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of John David Dickshot of Las Vegas, Nevada, | 4 | | who passed away on June 13, 2014; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Dickshot was born on June 15, 1950 in | 6 | | Waukegan; his parents were Johnny Dickshot and Julie Kuzmickus; | 7 | | and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, John Dickshot grew up on 8th Street in Waukegan | 9 | | and received his education in Gulfstream Park, Florida, as well | 10 | | as at many other "educational facilities" around the country; | 11 | | and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, John Dickshot was well-regarded as the consummate | 13 | | host for gatherings of friends and family; he served on the | 14 | | board of the Pushbutton's Social Club and invented his own card | 15 | | game known lovingly as Oh Poop; he also enjoyed spending hours | 16 | | on Little Bay de Noc on Lake Michigan, where he would use the | 17 | | skills his father taught him to catch endless amounts of perch; | 18 | | and | 19 | | WHEREAS, John Dickshot moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1990 | 20 | | and continued to pursue his first love, sports management; in | 21 | | 2000, he was offered the job as head chef at Brando's |

| 1 | | Restaurant, where he met many of the great friends he had in | 2 | | Las Vegas; after retiring in 2013, he lived happily alone, | 3 | | decorating his yard and following sports and horse racing with | 4 | | enthusiasm; he was also well known as a "part-time plumber"; | 5 | | and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, John Dickshot was preceded in death by his parents | 7 | | and his sisters, Kathleen Kamakaiwi and Cynthia Logue; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, John Dickshot is survived by his sisters, Mary | 9 | | Anne Kennedy and Judith Ducey; his daughter, Melissa A. | 10 | | Benavides, MD, and her two children, Enrique IV and Carolina; | 11 | | and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | 14 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of John David Dickshot; | 15 | | and be it further
