SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 5/22-82 new

    Amends the School Code. Provides that, before the 30th day of each school year, beginning with the 2016-2017 school year, the principal of each public school shall report to the State Board of Education certain information concerning the administration of assessments to students. Requires the State Board of Education to compile the reported information and make that information available to the public. Requires each school to make that information publicly available to the parents and guardians of its students. Effective January 1, 2016.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
522-82 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/22-82 new)
7    Sec. 22-82. Assessment reporting.
8    (a) Before the 30th day of each school year, beginning with
9the 2016-2017 school year, the principal of each public school
10shall report all of the following to the State Board of
11Education, using a form developed by the State Board of
12Education:
13        (1) Every Type I and Type II assessment, as defined by
14    rule of the State Board of Education, the school will be
15    administering that school year.
16        (2) The administration window for each of these
17    assessments.
18        (3) Which entity is requiring the assessment (State,
19    school district, network, or principal).
20        (4) Which grade levels will be taking the assessment.
21        (5) Which subsets of students, such as English Learners
22    and special education students, will be taking the
23    assessment.

1        (6) An estimate of the average time it will take a
2    student to complete the assessment.
3        (7) If the results of the assessment are to be used for
4    purposes other than for guiding instruction, what the
5    results of the assessment will be used for, such as for
6    promotion, course placement, graduation, teacher
7    evaluation, or school performance ratings.
8    (b) The State Board of Education shall compile the
9information reported under subsection (a) of this Section for
10each school year and make that information available to the
11public. Each school shall also make that information publicly
12available to the parents and guardians of its students through
13the school district's Internet website or distribution in paper
14form.
15    (c) The State Board of Education may adopt any rules
16necessary to carry out its responsibilities under this Section.
 
17    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January
