SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

5 ILCS 490/13 new

Amends the State Designations Act. Designates the month of May as Monarch Month to be observed throughout the State as a month to honor the Monarch Butterfly. Effective immediately.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by adding Section 13 as follows:

(5 ILCS 490/13 new)

Sec. 13. Monarch Month. The month of May of each year is designated as Monarch Month to be observed throughout the State as a month to honor the Monarch Butterfly, which is the official State insect of the State of Illinois.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
