| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Lewis Rhodell Ricketts of Rapids City, | 4 | | who passed away on November 6, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lewis Ricketts was born in Davenport to Lewis W. | 6 | | and Gladys Wells Ricketts on April 19, 1925; he married | 7 | | Patricia J. Slininger in Rapids City on December 9, 1945; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Lewis Ricketts served honorably in the United | 9 | | States Navy during World War II; he spent many years working | 10 | | for the Rock Island Lines as a blacksmith; later, he became a | 11 | | rural letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in | 12 | | Port Byron; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Lewis Ricketts was dedicated to his church; he was | 14 | | a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Lewis Ricketts was preceded in death by his | 16 | | parents; his brothers, Richard and Raymond; and his | 17 | | granddaughter, Sarah Zugg; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Lewis Ricketts is survived by his wife, Patricia; | 19 | | his children, Rita (Jay) Delmar, Carolyn (Bruce) Miller, and | 20 | | Delena (Lavern) Jackson; his sister, Phyllis Entwhistle; his |
