| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Donald A. "Don" Van Acker of Moline, who | 4 | | passed away on April 27, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Don Van Acker was born in Moline to August and | 6 | | Helen (Lievens) Van Acker on January 21, 1939; he served in the | 7 | | United States Air Force in Okinawa, Japan during the Korean | 8 | | War; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Don Van Acker retired from Local Union 81, Cedar | 10 | | Rapids, Iowa in 1996 after 33 years; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Don Van Acker was a member of VFW Velie Post 2153, | 12 | | Moline, American Legion Post 246, Moline, and several bass | 13 | | fishing clubs, including Harvester, Quad Cities, and Twin | 14 | | Rivers, which he co-founded; he was also the founder of the | 15 | | Children's Therapy Center Annual Bass Fishing Tournament, | 16 | | which began over 40 years ago; bass fishing was his passion, | 17 | | and he donated bass fishing equipment to help start the Moline | 18 | | High School Bass Fishing Team; he spent his time volunteering | 19 | | at the VFW, American Legion, and QCCA Expo Center; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Don Van Acker was preceded in death by his sister, | 21 | | Jo Ann DePover; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Don Van Acker is survived by his children, Heidi | 2 | | (Sean) McKinney, Denise Van Acker, and Nick (Asuncion) Van | 3 | | Acker; his grandchildren, Megan, Courtney, Chaunte, and | 4 | | Miranda; his five great-grandchildren; and his sister, Carol | 5 | | Vickroy; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 8 | | Donald A. "Don" Van Acker and extend our sincere condolences to | 9 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 10 | | further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of Don Van Acker as an expression of | 13 | | our deepest sympathy.
