| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of James Joseph Lerch Sr. of Rock Island, | 4 | | who passed away on May 6, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, James Lerch was born in Rock Island to Joseph H. | 6 | | and Julia VanDenHende Lerch on November 1, 1940; he served in | 7 | | the U.S. Navy and married Patricia Kester at South Park | 8 | | Presbyterian Church in Rock Island on July 31, 1965; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, James Lerch worked as a cold mill operator at | 10 | | Alcoa for 36 years; he was also the chief of police in Sherrard | 11 | | for 25 years and served 10 years with the Milan Auxiliary | 12 | | Police; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, James Lerch was a member of South Park | 14 | | Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge No. 1014 AF & AM in Moline, | 15 | | and the Evening Lions Club in Rock Island; he was also a Mason | 16 | | of the Scottish Rite; he enjoyed gardening, canning, golfing, | 17 | | and bowling; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, James Lerch was preceded in death by his parents | 19 | | and his sister, Sue Horsman; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, James Lerch is survived by his wife, Patricia; his |

| 1 | | children, James (Julie) Lerch Jr., David P. (Julie) Lerch, | 2 | | Melissa K. (Dale) Partain, and Paul M. (Charity) Lerch; nine | 3 | | grandchildren; and one great-grandson; therefore, be it
| 4 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 5 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 6 | | James Joseph Lerch Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to | 7 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 8 | | further
| 9 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 10 | | presented to the family of James Lerch as an expression of our | 11 | | deepest sympathy.
