| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Richard Lee "Dick" Medd of Moline, who | 4 | | passed away on June 15, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dick Medd served during World War II in the U.S. | 6 | | Army Air Corps as a B-29 navigator; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Dick Medd was a successful businessman (Dairy | 8 | | Queen, Medd-O-Lane Dairy); he was a pioneer in the Dairy Queen | 9 | | franchise, helping to develop, protect, and promote the DQ | 10 | | brand nationally; he spread soft serve ice cream and jobs | 11 | | across the Midwest and the eastern part of the United States; | 12 | | and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Dick Medd was musician and 32nd degree Mason; he | 14 | | was best at being a husband, dad, and grandpa; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Dick Medd was preceded in death by his parents, | 16 | | Cecil and Mildred Medd, and his brothers, William, Ralph, and | 17 | | Ronald Medd; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Dick Medd is survived by his wife of 73 years, | 19 | | Alberta (Bert) Medd; his children, Gary Medd (Jean), James Medd | 20 | | (Sandy), Judy Schuler (Jere), and Rich Medd (Stacey); his |
