| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of John L. Manthey of Joliet, who passed | 4 | | away on January 15, 2011; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was born in Joliet on November 8, 1925; he was | 6 | | a graduate of Joliet Township High School Class of 1943, Joliet | 7 | | Junior College, and Drake University; he was a veteran of World | 8 | | War II, serving as a Yeoman in the United States Navy; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, He was a member and quartermaster of VFW Cantigny | 10 | | Post #367 and a member of the American Legion Post #1080; he | 11 | | was also a member of the Joliet Breakfast Lion's Club and four | 12 | | time Lion of the Year, a past president of St. Joe's Baseball | 13 | | League, a member of the Old Timers Baseball Association and the | 14 | | Moran Athletic Club; and he was a lifetime member of St. Peter | 15 | | Lutheran Church; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, He was retired from the E.J.& E. Railroad after 30 | 17 | | plus years of service; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles | 19 | | and Ida Manthey; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, John Manthey is survived by his wife, Marion B. |

| 1 | | Manthey (nee, Barber); his son, Jack (Sandra) Manthey; his | 2 | | daughter, Sharon (Dave) Bojak; his grandchildren, John Reid | 3 | | Manthey, Maggie Manthey, Stephanie Manthey, and Megan Bojak; | 4 | | his brother, Lawrence (the late Lois) Manthey; and his special | 5 | | niece, Marilyn (Gus) Swineheart; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 8 | | his family and friends, the passing of John Manthey; and be it | 9 | | further
| 10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 | | presented to the family of John Manthey as a symbol of our | 12 | | sincere sympathy.
