| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Michael Ray "Mike" Cooper of Hamilton, | 4 | | who passed away on January 30, 2023; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mike Cooper was born to Albert Leroy and Margaret | 6 | | Maxine (West) Cooper in Keokuk, Iowa on April 9, 1958; he | 7 | | served in the U.S. Army during Operation Desert Storm and was | 8 | | stationed in Germany; he also served in the National Guard for | 9 | | 13 years; he was honorably discharged; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Mike Cooper was employed as a caretaker at Keokuk | 11 | | National Cemetery in Keokuk, Iowa from 1999 until his | 12 | | retirement in 2019; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Mike Cooper was a member of the Hamilton VFW; | 14 | | during his free time, he enjoyed watching TV, listening to the | 15 | | radio, and hunting for mushrooms and geodes; he loved taking | 16 | | drives around the area, and he frequented Menards and Casey's; | 17 | | his favorite hobbies included the Wordscapes app and | 18 | | photography; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Mike Cooper was known for his big heart and for | 20 | | always helping others; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Mike Cooper was preceded in death by his parents; | 2 | | his brothers, Albert "Punk" Cooper and Roger Cooper; his | 3 | | sister, Norma Jones; and his grandson, Christopher Gonzales; | 4 | | and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mike Cooper is survived by his daughter, Brooke | 6 | | Cooper; his sister, Marge Vickers; his grandchildren, Chance | 7 | | Cooper and Nathan Gonzales; his great-grandson, Cohan Michael | 8 | | Cooper; his several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his | 9 | | cats, Snowball and Tawny; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Michael Ray "Mike" Cooper and extend our sincere condolences | 13 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 14 | | it further
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 16 | | presented to the family of Mike Cooper as an expression of our | 17 | | deepest sympathy.
