| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of E. Vergene "Sam" Samuelson of Milan, who | 4 | | passed away on March 28, 2017; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, E. Vergene Samuelson was born to Elmer C. and | 6 | | Irene (Johnson) Samuelson on September 15, 1923; he joined the | 7 | | United States Army and was deployed in the African/Middle East | 8 | | Campaigns during World War II as a Combat Medic Technician; he | 9 | | married June M. Otto on June 2, 1997; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, E. Vergene Samuelson worked at Minneapolis-Moline | 11 | | for 10 years; he worked as a machine operator for Alcoa, and | 12 | | retired after 31 years of service; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, E. Vergene Samuelson was a member of First | 14 | | Presbyterian Church in Milan, and the Andover American Legion; | 15 | | he greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, dancing, | 16 | | playing cards, and golfing; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, E. Vergene Samuelson was preceded in death by his | 18 | | first wife, Florence Wilke; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, E. Vergene Samuelson is survived by his wife, | 20 | | June; his stepdaughters, Christie Coverdill, and Teresa |

| 1 | | (Steve) Karolek; his 10 stepgrandchildren; nine | 2 | | step-great-grandchildren; his nephew, Larry Dahm; and several | 3 | | other loving family members and friends; therefore, be it
| 4 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 5 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 6 | | E. Vergene "Sam" Samuelson, and extend our sincere condolences | 7 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 8 | | it further | 9 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 10 | | presented to the family of E. Vergene Samuelson as an | 11 | | expression of our deepest sympathy.
