| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of John J. Benedict of Moline, who passed | 4 | | away on June 24, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Benedict was born in El Paso to Frank and | 6 | | Florence Krones Benedict on June 22, 1939; he served as a | 7 | | corporal in the United States Marines, where he was a guard for | 8 | | the U.S. Embassy in Vienna, Austria; he married Laura L. Aucutt | 9 | | in El Paso on January 15, 1966; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, John Benedict retired from the Caterpillar | 11 | | Tractor Co. in 1987; he later opened and operated Benny's Pizza | 12 | | in Milan from 1988 until 2008; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, John Benedict enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing | 14 | | cards, and working on home improvement projects; he never met a | 15 | | stranger and spent time with friends any chance that he could; | 16 | | he loved spending time with his family, especially traveling | 17 | | with his wife, children, and grandchildren; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, John Benedict was preceded in death by his | 19 | | sisters, Mary and Gerry, and his brothers, Vernon and Harold; | 20 | | and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, John Benedict is survived by his wife, Laura; his | 2 | | children, Kelly (Roger) Nelson, Kevin Benedict, and Kristen | 3 | | (Chad) Dillavou; his grandchildren, Chris DePorter, Philip, | 4 | | Sarah, and Charlie Nelson, Ellie and Korbin Benedict, and | 5 | | Callie and Evie Dillavou; his sister, Rose (Joe) Hayes; and his | 6 | | sister-in-law, Pauline Benedict; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | John J. Benedict, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 10 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 11 | | further
