| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Alan | 4 | | Harold Joens, Sr. of Park Forest, who passed away on March 29, | 5 | | 2014; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Alan Joens, Sr. was born in Chicago on August 14, | 7 | | 1961 to Vernon and Barbara Joens; he graduated from Curie High | 8 | | School; in 1997 he married Mary Kay Joens and relocated to Park | 9 | | Forest; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Alan Joens, Sr. served on the board and as a field | 11 | | director of PONY Baseball and as Chairman of the Park Forest | 12 | | Baseball League; he was actively involved in youth sports | 13 | | including coaching, umpiring, refereeing, and fundraising; he | 14 | | was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing and anything outdoors; | 15 | | and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Alan Joens, Sr. always had a special place in his | 17 | | heart for individuals with disabilities; in 2012, he created | 18 | | the first Day of Champions, a day in which children with | 19 | | various types of disabilities could come out to the ball field | 20 | | and work with the coaches from Park Forest Baseball; and | 21 | | WHEREAS, Alan Joens, Sr. was preceded in death by his |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Alan Joens, Sr. was the beloved husband of 17 | 3 | | years to Mary Kay Joens (nee Graefnitz); the loving father of | 4 | | Alan Harold Joens, Jr. "A.J."; the dear brother of Vernon | 5 | | Joens, Jr. and Cindy (Richard) Wendel; the cherished uncle of | 6 | | Addy Wendel; and the dear son-in-law of William (Marlene) | 7 | | Graefnitz; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 9 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 10 | | we mourn the passing of Alan Harold Joens, Sr., and extend our | 11 | | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | 12 | | and loved him; and be it further
