| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply | 3 | | saddened to learn of the death of Karen Marie Hollis of | 4 | | Rockford, who passed away on December 10, 2012; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Karen Hollis was born on November 21, 1964, in | 6 | | Chicago to Thomas and Nancy (Fuscone) Foley; she married Scott | 7 | | Hollis on October 7, 1988; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Karen Hollis enjoyed pizza and Bingo nights at the | 9 | | independent multiple intelligences school, where she was the | 10 | | board president; she enjoyed reading, skiing, attending her | 11 | | children's swimming events, and traveling with her family; she | 12 | | was involved in an ongoing campaign to raise $850,000 to | 13 | | upgrade Spectrum Progressive School's exterior and to expand | 14 | | the school by buying additional property; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Karen Hollis had been with the Rockford Health | 16 | | Systems for more than 25 years and was a member of the REACT | 17 | | Flight Team; it was during the discharge of her duties for | 18 | | REACT that she and fellow flight nurse Jim Dillow, and pilot | 19 | | Andrew Olesen, perished when they encountered bad weather on | 20 | | route to pick up a critically ill patient; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Karen Hollis was preceded in death by her father, |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Karen Hollis is survived by her husband, Scott; | 3 | | her daughters, Sydney Marie and Samantha Carol; her dog, | 4 | | Reggie; her mother, Nancy Foley; her sisters, Cathleen (Scott) | 5 | | Person, Linda (John) Timm, and Nancy (Jim) Appell; her | 6 | | brothers, Tom (Carol) Foley and John (Colette) Foley; her | 7 | | father-in-law, Charles Ellis; her nieces and nephews, Ryan, | 8 | | Michael, Kelsey, Jennifer, Ethan, Shaun, Kevin, Brenden, Erin, | 9 | | Franchesca, Jack, Ariana, Joshua, and Annalisa; therefore, be | 10 | | it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Karen Hollis, and we extend our sincere condolences to her | 14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 15 | | further
