| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jeff Chudwin on the | 4 | | occasion of his retirement as the Chief of Police for the | 5 | | Village of Olympia Fields on July 17, 2012, after 38 years of | 6 | | dedicated service in law enforcement; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Chudwin earned his juris doctor degree from | 8 | | DePaul University Law School in 1977; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Chudwin began his career in law enforcement | 10 | | in 1974, serving the Village of Olympia Fields in both a | 11 | | part-time and then full-time capacity; in November of 2000, he | 12 | | was appointed by Village President Linzey Jones to the position | 13 | | of Acting Chief; in February of 2001, he was promoted to the | 14 | | position of Chief; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Prior to his career with the Village of Olympia | 16 | | Fields, Jeff Chudwin served as an Assistant State's Attorney | 17 | | for Will and Cook Counties; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Chudwin has provided training to police | 19 | | officers on issues of emergency preparedness, police use of | 20 | | force, tactical firearms use, and officer survival throughout | 21 | | the State and at national conferences since 1978; he has |

| 1 | | assisted officers involved in deadly force incidents and speaks | 2 | | on preparing for deadly force incidents and their aftermath; he | 3 | | also writes for law enforcement publications on the issues of | 4 | | police use of force, firearms training, SWAT, and patrol | 5 | | functions; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Chudwin is a founding member of the Illinois | 7 | | Tactical Officers Association and has served as its president | 8 | | for the past 16 years; he has served as the Police Chief's | 9 | | representative and co-chairman of the Illinois Law Enforcement | 10 | | Alarm System for Lake, Cook, and DuPage Counties since 2002; he | 11 | | serves as co-chairman of the Terrorism/Disaster Preparedness | 12 | | Committees of the South Suburban Police Chiefs Association, the | 13 | | South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association, and is a member | 14 | | of the Illinois Chiefs of Police Association Terrorism | 15 | | Committee; he is co-chairman of the Illinois Law Enforcement | 16 | | Alarm System (ILEAS) Region 4/Cook, DuPage, and Lake Counties | 17 | | and serves as the committee chair for the ILEAS Weapons of Mass | 18 | | Destruction/Special Response Teams; he serves as co-chairman | 19 | | of the Terrorism/Emergency Preparedness committees of the | 20 | | South Suburban Chiefs of Police and the South Suburban Mayors | 21 | | and Managers Associations; in 2005, he was deployed as a member | 22 | | of the ILEAS Task Force in response to the Hurricane Katrina | 23 | | EMAC request from the State of Louisiana; and | 24 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Chudwin was named Law Officer Magazine |

| 1 | | Trainer of the Year for 2009 in recognition of his work; and | 2 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Chudwin serves as a model of hard work, | 3 | | integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of | 4 | | Illinois; therefore, be it
| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 6 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 7 | | we congratulate Jeff Chudwin on the occasion of his retirement | 8 | | and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it | 9 | | further
