| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Lowell "Whitey" Reiser of Hampshire, who | 4 | | passed away on August 6, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lowell Reiser was born in Burlington to Edward and | 6 | | Lorena (Seyller) Reiser on March 6, 1931; he graduated from | 7 | | Hampshire High School in 1949; he served in the United States | 8 | | Army during the Korean Conflict; he married Arlene Engel at St. | 9 | | Charles Borromeo Church in Hampshire on February 9, 1952; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Lowell Reiser retired from the Masonite | 11 | | Corporation, now International Paper Co.; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Lowell Reiser was a life member and past Commander | 13 | | of the Hampshire Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8043 and a | 14 | | member of the American Legion Post 57 of Elgin; he was also a | 15 | | member of the Burlington/Hampshire Senior Citizens, the | 16 | | Hampshire Historical Society, the Fox Valley Model T Club, and | 17 | | the Northern Illinois Steam Power Club; he was a lifelong and | 18 | | active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church; in May | 19 | | 2015, he was honored as Veteran of the Month for community | 20 | | service by the City of Elgin; in 2013, he received the Earl | 21 | | Engel Award for community service in Hampshire Township; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Lowell Reiser was preceded in death by his | 2 | | parents; his grandson, Jason Lichthardt; his brother, Floyd | 3 | | Reiser; and his brothers-in-law, Norman Deihs, Gayland | 4 | | Schendel, and Morris Kiefer; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lowell Reiser is survived by his wife, Arlene; his | 6 | | daughter, Darlene (Dale) Lichthardt; his son, Daryl (Helen) | 7 | | Reiser; his grandchildren, Amy and Joseph Dobzynski, Daniel and | 8 | | Ashley Lichthardt, and Randy Reiser; his stepgrandson, John | 9 | | Burton; his great-granddaughters, Eileen Dobzynski, and Grace | 10 | | and Sophia Lichthardt; and his sisters, Leila Deihs, Rita | 11 | | Kiefer, Joan (Henry) Thies, and Jean Schendel; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 | | Lowell "Whitey" Reiser and extend our sincere condolences to | 15 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 16 | | further
