| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of William "Bill" Francis Dettmers of | 4 | | Bethalto, who passed away on January 28, 2012; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was born May 30, 1923, in Bethalto, the son of | 6 | | William Herman and Blanche (Rosin) Dettmers; he married Shirley | 7 | | A. Warren on April 10, 1948, at Our Lady Queen of Peace | 8 | | Catholic Church in Bethalto; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, He served his country in the United States Army in | 10 | | the European Theater during World War II, earning the Purple | 11 | | Heart and retiring as a Master Sergeant; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, He retired as Bethalto Postmaster after 38 years; | 13 | | he was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, the | 14 | | Bethalto American Legion Post No. 214, and the Bethalto Knights | 15 | | of Columbus Council No. 4688, where he was a 3rd degree knight; | 16 | | he was a coin, stamp, and baseball card collector, enjoyed wood | 17 | | crafting, and was an avid dancer; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; | 19 | | and one sister, Katherine Blastic; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, William Dettmers is survived by his children and |

| 1 | | their spouses, William and Sandra Dettmers, Pamela and John | 2 | | Gass, Craig Dettmers, Gary and Denise Dettmers, Paul Dettmers, | 3 | | Teresa and Jim Langford, Susan and Steve Mitchell, Mary and | 4 | | Kevin Hagerty, and Steve and Crystal Dettmers; his 21 | 5 | | grandchildren; his 12 great-grandchildren; his sister, June | 6 | | DeLong; his special companion, Betty Bast; and his nieces and | 7 | | nephews; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 10 | | his family and friends, the passing of William Dettmers; and be | 11 | | it further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of William Dettmers as a symbol of our | 14 | | sincere sympathy.
