| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of John C. Winkelman of Marengo, who passed | 4 | | away on April 12, 2012; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Winkelman was born on February 12, 1958, in | 6 | | Belvidere; his parents were Melvin and Marialyce (Lowe) | 7 | | Winkelman; he married Lynn Nepstad on July 29, 1995, in | 8 | | Huntley; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, John Winkelman was raised in Marengo and graduated | 10 | | from Marengo Community High School in 1976; he was a part of | 11 | | the Marengo Rescue Squad for 18 years, where he earned the | 12 | | title of chief; he served as a volunteer firefighter for the | 13 | | Huntley Fire Department for 3 years before becoming a full-time | 14 | | employee in 1991; he eventually worked his way to the rank of | 15 | | captain; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, John Winkelman enjoyed riding his motorcycle, | 17 | | fishing, animals, and spending time with his family; in his | 18 | | spare time, he served as the caretaker at Barber Cemetery; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, John Winkelman was preceded in death by his | 20 | | parents; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, John Winkelman is survived by his wife, Lynn; his | 2 | | daughters, Sherie (Nolan) ONeil, Tara (Jerremy) Swafford, and | 3 | | Julie Winkelman; his stepsons, Matthew and Richard Altepeter; | 4 | | his grandchildren, Samantha, Morgan, Elijah, Avery, Chloe, | 5 | | Lilliana, and Chase; his brother, Joe Winkelman; his | 6 | | mother-in-law, Jean Nepstad; his many nieces, nephews, | 7 | | cousins, and close friends; and his brothers and sisters at the | 8 | | fire and rescue departments he served; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 11 | | his family and friends, the passing of John C. Winkelman; and | 12 | | be it further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of John Winkelman as an expression of | 15 | | our sympathy.
