| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply | 3 | | saddened to learn of the death of Ted C. Peterson of O'Fallon, | 4 | | who passed away on September 15, 2012; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ted Peterson was born on December 11, 1946, in | 6 | | Inglewood, California, to Thyrill Austin and Ruth Frances | 7 | | Peterson; he was married to Sue Ann Peterson (Smith) for 45 | 8 | | years; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Ted Peterson was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force | 10 | | Special Forces; his distinguished military service included | 11 | | being an expert marksman on the AF Command Rifle Team and | 12 | | leading numerous covert operations in Libya and Vietnam; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Ted Peterson had a long and respected 33-year | 14 | | career as division sales manager with RJ Reynolds; he mentored | 15 | | many young colleagues and was able to bring out the best in his | 16 | | employees; he retired in 2002; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Ted Peterson traveled extensively during his | 18 | | retirement with his wife; he was a gifted woodworker; he had a | 19 | | love and appreciation for history and geography, and most | 20 | | enjoyed the high deserts of the western United States; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Ted Peterson was preceded in death by his parents, | 2 | | Thyrill Austin and Ruth Frances (Richards) Peterson and his | 3 | | brothers, Gary and Bruce Peterson; and | 4 | | WHEREAS, Ted Peterson is survived by his wife, Sue Ann; his | 5 | | sons, Ted (Anne) Peterson Jr. and Dennis Peterson; his brother, | 6 | | Don (Kathy) Peterson; his sister, Kathy Gatrel; his | 7 | | grandchildren, Julius, Quinn, Regan, Marin, and Hayden; his | 8 | | brother-in-law, Retired USN Capt. John C. (Carol) Smith; his | 9 | | sister-in-law, Mary Jo (Dr. Philip) Kahlert; and his nieces and | 10 | | nephews; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Ted Peterson, and we extend our sincere condolences to his | 14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 15 | | further
