SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of David N. Anderson, who passed away on July 6, 2023; and

WHEREAS, David Anderson was born to Silas and Annette Anderson in Harrisburg on July 19, 1946; he graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1964; he married Elizabeth in Decatur on March 15, 1969; and

WHEREAS, David Anderson worked in radio for ten years during the 1960s and early 1970s, spending the first two years with his hometown station WEBQ, followed by joining WGGH in nearby Marion while attending Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and then working at WDZ in Decatur; his final position in radio was a stint as news director of Springfield's WDBR and WTAX while pursuing a master's degree in communications at Sangamon State University, known today as the University of Illinois Springfield; and

WHEREAS, David Anderson was hired as director of public affairs for the Illinois State Bar Association in 1974, and he maintained that title for 39 years until his retirement; during his tenure, he also served in a variety of other posts, including associate executive director; and

WHEREAS, David Anderson was an exceptional pool player who loved stargazing, gardening, solving puzzles, listening to music, watching Fourth of July fireworks, and eating barbecue and chocolate cake; above all, he loved spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, David Anderson was a great communicator who was known for choosing his words carefully, valuing quality over quantity, and he firmly believed in science, fairness, and helping others; and

WHEREAS, David Anderson was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, David Anderson was survived by his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth "Bette" Anderson; his children, Matthew Anderson, Sarah Anderson, and Katherine (Nicholas) Moore; his grandchildren, Toby, Gabriel, Liliana, and Jameson; his sisters, Carolyn, Catherine, and Nancy; and 10 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of David N. Anderson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of David Anderson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
