Amends the Plat Act. Requires that plats of subdivided
land indicate the school district in which each tract,
parcel, lot, or block lies. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT to amend the Plat Act by adding Section 1.005.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Plat Act is amended by adding Section
5 1.005 as follows:
6 (765 ILCS 205/1.005 new)
7 Sec. 1.005. School district statement.
8 (a) When an owner is required to file a plat pursuant to
9 Section 1 of this Act, the owner shall submit simultaneously
10 with the subdivision plat a notarized statement indicating,
11 to the best of the owner's knowledge, the school district in
12 which each tract, parcel, lot, or block lies.
13 (b) An owner who knowingly files an incorrect statement
14 under this Section is liable for damages to any subsequent
15 purchaser of the property who relies on the incorrect
16 statement to that person's detriment.
