Amends the Regional Transportation Authority Act to
require the Authority to allow bicycles on commuter rail
trains. Allows a reasonable fare increase to be charged to
those passengers with bicycles.

1 AN ACT to amend the Regional Transportation Authority Act
2 by adding Section 3B.09a.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Regional Transportation Authority Act is
6 amended by adding Section 3B.09a as follows:
7 (70 ILCS 3615/3B.09a new)
8 Sec. 3B.09a. Bicycles on commuter rail trains. Effective
9 July 1, 1999 and after first adopting an ordinance imposing
10 terms and conditions designed to protect the safety and
11 convenience of passengers, the Commuter Rail Board may allow
12 bicycles to be transported on commuter rail trains. A
13 reasonable fare increase may be charged to those passengers
14 with bicycles.
