1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 644
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Bill 644 on page 1, in
3 lines 3 and 8 by replacing "24A-15.1" each place it appears
4 with "24A-15.1 and adding Section 24A-20"; and
5 on page 2, in line 3 by replacing "and" with "and, for the
6 purpose of Section 24A-20,"; and
7 on page 20, by inserting after line 33 the following:
8 "(10 ILCS 5/24A-20 new)
9 Sec. 24A-20. Electronic ballot form pilot program. An
10 election authority may use electronic ballot forms on video
11 terminals with data packs as defined in this Article only
12 when conducting the 1999 consolidated election primary, the
13 1999 consolidated election, or both the 1999 consolidated
14 election primary and the 1999 consolidated election.
15 Electronic ballot forms, and any variation in procedure
16 permitted under this Article by this amendatory Act of 1998
17 to accommodate their use, may not be used at any other time.
18 The State Board of Elections shall assess the success or
19 benefits, or lack of success or benefits, of the use of
20 electronic ballot forms on video terminals with data packs by
21 election authorities participating under this Section and
22 shall report its assessments to the General Assembly by

1 January 1, 2000.".
