1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 789
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Bill 789 on page 1 by
3 replacing lines 8 through 23 with the following:
4 "Sec. 7-102.5. Subsidization of nonutility services
5 prohibited. No regulated public utility may engage in
6 carrying on any business, other than that of a public
7 utility, in which it provides or pays the costs, support, or
8 equipment of any such nonutility business unless there is
9 full and complete reimbursement of such costs, support, or
10 equipment. For the purpose of this Section "costs, support,
11 or equipment" shall include, but is not limited to, the use
12 of vehicles, service tools, equipment, instruments, billing
13 systems, customer information or marketing programs, or
14 employees for which costs, salaries, or benefits are
15 recoverable in the regulated rates for utility service or
16 revenues derived from the regulated rates to develop,
17 install, service, or repair residential, commercial, or
18 industrial nonutility products or services including, but not
19 limited to, gas or electric heating, ventilating, or air
20 conditioning systems, interior load side lighting systems and
21 fixtures, or retail sale of heating, ventilating, air
22 conditioning, or interior lighting equipment."; and
23 on page 2, line 8, by deleting "gas or electric".
