Amends the Institutions, Facilities, and Programs Article
of the Unified Code of Corrections. Makes technical changes
in provisions regarding crimes committed by persons confined
by the Department of Corrections.

1 AN ACT to amend the Unified Code of Corrections by
2 changing Section 3-6-5.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Unified Code of Corrections is amended by
6 changing 3-6-5 as follows:
7 (730 ILCS 5/3-6-5) (from Ch. 38, par. 1003-6-5)
8 Sec. 3-6-5. Crimes Committed by Persons Confined by the
9 Department. When any person is charged with committing an
10 offense while confined by the Department, cognizance thereof
11 shall be taken by the circuit court of the county where the
12 wherein such crime was committed. The Such court shall
13 adjudicate and sentence the person charged with the such
14 crime in the same manner and subject to the same rules and
15 limitations as are now established by law in relation to
16 other persons charged with crime. The expense of prosecution
17 shall be paid by the Department.
