1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1058
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Bill 1058 by replacing
3 the title with the following:
4 "AN ACT to amend the Illinois Highway Code by changing
5 Section 9-102."; and
6 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
7 following:
8 "Section 5. The Illinois Highway Code is amended by
9 changing Section 9-102 as follows:
10 (605 ILCS 5/9-102) (from Ch. 121, par. 9-102)
11 Sec. 9-102. The proper highway authorities are authorized
12 to keep vehicles of every kind off the public highways where
13 necessary to properly construct or repair the same.
14 Whenever any public highway including any bridge or
15 culvert thereon is being constructed or repaired, the highway
16 authorities having such work in charge shall, when they deem
17 it necessary, erect or cause to be erected at such points as
18 they deem desirable, suitable barriers, with signs thereon,
19 stating that such highway is closed, and by whose order.
20 Such authorities shall also erect or cause to be erected
21 at such places as they deem best, detour signs directing

1 travel around such construction or repair work.
2 Such signs and barricades shall conform to the Manual of
3 Uniform Traffic Control Devices adopted by the Department.

5 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
6 becoming law.".
