1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2342
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Bill 2342, AS AMENDED,
3 in Section 5 by replacing all of Sec. 9-8.5 with the
4 following:
5 "(10 ILCS 5/9-8.5 new)
6 Sec. 9-8.5. Contribution and transfer limits.
7 (a) No individual may make contributions to any
8 political committee of more than $1,500 during a primary
9 election period or of more than $1,500 during a general
10 election period.
11 (b) No corporation, labor union, or association of
12 individuals, however described or organized, that has not
13 established a political committee may make contributions to
14 any political committee of more than $3,000 during a primary
15 election period or of more than $3,000 during a general
16 election period.
17 (c) No political committee established by a corporation,
18 labor union, or association of individuals, however described
19 or organized, may make contributions to any political
20 committee of more than $5,000 during a primary election
21 period or of more than $5,000 during a general election
22 period. Nothing in this subsection (c) shall prohibit or
23 limit the amount of transfers by a political committee

1 established by a candidate for public office or public
2 official.
3 (d) For purposes of this Section, a primary election
4 period begins July 1 of an odd-numbered year and ends the day
5 of the next primary election. A general election period
6 begins the day after a primary election and ends June 30 of
7 the next odd-numbered year.
8 (e) With respect to contributions to political
9 committees established by a candidate for public office or a
10 public official, the limitations established in this Section
11 apply in the aggregate to all political committees
12 established by that candidate for public office or public
13 official.".
