Amends the Acts relating to the governance of the State's
9 public universities. Requires those universities to
include each year, as part of each student's tuition bill or
other statement of tuition charges, a statement specifying
(i) the aggregate amount appropriated from the General
Revenue Fund and Education Assistance Fund to the University
for operation of the University's educational system during
the academic year which respect to which the tuition charges
are payable, and (ii) the average State subsidy per enrolled
University student represented by that aggregate
appropriation. Also requires that data to be stated on a per
campus basis if the University operates more than one campus
during an academic year. Effective July 1, 1998.

1 AN ACT relating to higher education, amending named Acts.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by
5 adding Section 7h as follows:
6 (110 ILCS 305/7h new)
7 Sec. 7h. Tuition statements. Each year the University
8 shall include as part of a student's tuition bill or other
9 statement of tuition charges the following statement:
10 The General Assembly and the Governor have
11 authorized the aggregate amount of $ ...... to be
12 appropriated from the General Revenue Fund and the
13 Education Assistance Fund to the Board of Trustees of the
14 University for operation of the University's educational
15 system during the academic year with respect to which
16 your enclosed tuition charges are payable. That
17 aggregate amount represents an average subsidy from the
18 State of $ ...... for each student enrolled at the
19 University during the academic year.
20 In any academic year in which the University operates
21 more than one campus, the required statement also shall
22 include the following:
23 Of the aggregate amount so appropriated for
24 operation of the University's educational system during
25 the academic year, the following table shows the portion
26 thereof appropriated for operation of the educational
27 system at each campus of the University and the average
28 subsidy from the State for each student enrolled at that

31 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July
