Provides that before a prospective resident's admission to a nursing home the nursing home shall advise the prospective resident to consult a physician to determine whether the prospective resident should obtain a pneumonia shot. Provides that once every 12 months a nursing home shall advise each resident of the nursing home to consult a physician to determine whether the resident should obtain a pneumonia shot. Effective immediately. LRB9002780DJcd LRB9002780DJcd 1 AN ACT to amend the Nursing Home Care Act by adding 2 Section 2-213. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5 The Nursing Home Care Act is amended by 6 adding Section 2-213 as follows: 7 (210 ILCS 45/2-213 new) 8 Sec. 2-213. Pneumonia shots. Before a prospective 9 resident's admission to a facility the facility shall advise 10 the prospective resident to consult a physician to determine 11 whether the prospective resident should obtain a vaccination 12 against pneumococcal pneumonia. Once every 12 months a 13 facility shall advise each resident of the facility to 14 consult a physician to determine whether the resident should 15 obtain a vaccination against pneumococcal pneumonia. 16 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 17 becoming law.
