1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 734
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend Senate Bill 734 by replacing
3 the title with the following:
4 "AN ACT concerning medical care, amending named Acts.";
5 and
6 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
7 following:
8 "Section 5. The Nursing Home Care Act is amended by
9 adding Section 2-213 as follows:
10 (210 ILCS 45/2-213 new)
11 Sec. 2-213. Pneumonia shots. Before a prospective
12 resident's admission to a facility the facility shall advise
13 the prospective resident to consult a physician to determine
14 whether the prospective resident should obtain a vaccination
15 against pneumococcal pneumonia.
16 Section 10. The Medical Practice Act of 1987 is amended
17 by adding Section 64 as follows:
18 (225 ILCS 60/64 new)
19 Sec. 64. Pneumonia shots. Every physician licensed

1 under this Act shall advise each of his or her patients who
2 is 65 years of age or older to obtain a vaccination against
3 pneumococcal pneumonia at least once every 12 months unless
4 medically contraindicated.
5 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
6 becoming law.".
