Amends the General Assembly Organization Act. Makes a
technical change in the Section concerning the oath.

1 AN ACT in relation to the General Assembly.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The General Assembly Organization Act is
5 amended by changing Section 2 as follows:
6 (25 ILCS 5/2) (from Ch. 63, par. 2)
7 Sec. 2. Every officer of each house of the General
8 Assembly shall, before entering upon the duties of his or her
9 office, take and subscribe the following oath, which shall be
10 filed with the Secretary of State:
11 "I do solemnly swear (or affirm, as the case may be,)
12 that I will support the constitution of the United States,
13 and the constitution of the state of Illinois, and that I
14 will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of ....
15 according to the best of my ability."
