Senate Sponsors: LAUZEN-PARKER Short description: VEH CD-INS-PENALTY-IMPOUND CAR Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Vehicle Code to provide that a person convicted of a second or subsequent violation for operating a vehicle when registration is suspended for not having insurance is guilty of a Class B misdemeanor. Provides that a person driving without a license or permit and without insurance shall have his or her vehicle impounded. GOVERNOR'S AMENDATORY VETO MESSAGE Recommends that a person who is guilty of a Class B misdemeanor for a second or subsequent violation of the provision prohibiting a person from operating a vehicle when the vehicle's registration is suspended for noninsurance be required to pay a fine of not less than $1,000 and not more than $2,000.
