House Sponsors: SAVIANO. Short description: PEN CD-CHGO TCHR-STATE FUNDING Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Chicago Teacher Article of the Pension Code. Provides that the annual State contribution to the Fund shall be no less than 20% of the annual State contribution to the downstate Teachers' Retirement System, beginning in State fiscal year 1999. Effective immediately. PENSION NOTE Required FY1999 State contribution to Chi. Teachers' Fund is $106.4 M, based on TRS contribution of $531.9 M ($41.4 M more than the FY1998 State contribution). The Chi. Teachers' Fund is currently funded at almost 100%, and TRS at $64.5%.
