1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 76
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Joint Resolution 76 as
3 follows:
4 on page 1, immediately below line 18, by inserting the
5 following:
6 "WHEREAS, Illinois has exceeded these requirements,
7 including, but not limited to, the testing of science, social
8 sciences, and writing; and"; and
9 on page 1, immediately below line 23, by inserting the
10 following:
11 "WHEREAS, There is some concern about the current testing
12 process; and"; and
13 on page 2, line 4, by replacing "all Illinois Standards" with
14 "current testing under the Illinois Standards Achievement
15 Test and Prairie State Achievement Examination shall be
16 continued; and be it further
17 RESOLVED, That the State Board of Education shall not
18 pursue activities designed to expand that testing without
19 legislative approval; and be it further
20 RESOLVED, That the State Board of Education must make
21 recommendations, in conjunction with the task force to be

1 established under this resolution, designed to maximize the
2 federal moneys available under Public Law 107-110; and be it
3 further "; and
4 on page 2, by deleting lines 5 through 13; and
5 on page 2, line 25, after "develop", by inserting ", with
6 careful consideration,"; and
7 on page 2, line 25, by replacing "approved," with "approved
8 test or tests"; and
9 on page 2, by replacing line 26 with "that meet the"; and
10 on page 3, line 1, by replacing "25" with "17"; and
11 on page 3, line 8, by replacing "8" with "4"; and
12 on page 3, line 8, by replacing "4" with "2"; and
13 on page 3, line 9, by replacing "4" with "2"; and
14 on page 3, line 10, by replacing "6" with "5"; and
15 on page 3, line 11, by replacing "4" with "2"; and
16 on page 3, line 11, by deleting "with"; and
17 on page 3, line 12, by replacing "one each appointed" with
18 "appointed jointly"; and
19 on page 3, line 14, before "the", by inserting "one person
20 appointed by the Board of Higher Education; and"; and
21 on page 3, line 15, by replacing "the" with "and be it
22 further"; and
23 on page 3, by deleting lines 16 through 18; and
24 on page 4, line 1, by replacing "14" with "31".
