92_SB1276eng SB1276 Engrossed LRB9201226RCcd 1 AN ACT in relation to pharmaceutical assistance. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Senior Citizens and Disabled Persons 5 Property Tax Relief and Pharmaceutical Assistance Act is 6 amended by adding Section 9.2 as follows: 7 (320 ILCS 25/9.2 new) 8 Sec. 9.2. Pharmaceutical Assistance Program Review 9 Committee. The Pharmaceutical Assistance Program Review 10 Committee is created. The committee shall consist of 17 11 members as follows: 12 (1) 2 members of the General Assembly appointed by 13 the President of the Senate, 2 members of the General 14 Assembly appointed by the minority leader of the Senate, 15 2 members of the General Assembly appointed by the 16 Speaker of the House of Representatives and 2 members of 17 the General Assembly appointed by the minority leader of 18 the House of Representatives; 19 (2) the Director of Aging or his or her designee; 20 (3) the Director of Revenue or his or her designee; 21 (4) the Director of Public Aid or his or her 22 designee; 23 (5) the Secretary of Human Services or his or her 24 designee; 25 (6) a representative of AARP; 26 (7) a representative of the Pharmaceutical Research 27 and Manufacturers of America; 28 (8) a representative of the Illinois Pharmacists 29 Association; 30 (9) the Director of Public Health or his or her 31 designee; and SB1276 Engrossed -2- LRB9201226RCcd 1 (10) a representative of the Illinois State Medical 2 Society. 3 The President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of 4 Representatives shall each designate one member to serve as 5 co-chairs. The Committee shall meet at the call of the 6 co-chairs. Members shall serve without compensation but may 7 be reimbursed for necessary expenses. The Committee may 8 conduct public hearings to gather testimony from interested 9 parties regarding the necessity for pharmaceutical assistance 10 for Illinois seniors including changes to the pharmaceutical 11 assistance program. The Committee shall report to the General 12 Assembly and the Governor annually or as it deems necessary 13 regarding changes to the pharmaceutical assistance program 14 and any associated costs of those changes. 15 This Section is repealed on July 1, 2006. 16 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 17 becoming law.
