House Sponsors: DAVIS,MONIQUE. Short description: SCH CD-EVALUAT STUDENT TEACHER Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the School Code. Provides that for a student teacher enrolled in a student teaching course at a teacher training institution, the institution shall make the final evaluation of the student teacher's performance. Includes requirements for this final evaluation. Allows the supervising teacher to make a separate evaluation. HOUSE AMENDMENT NO. 1. Deletes reference to: 105 ILCS 5/21-2c new Adds reference to: 105 ILCS 5/21-21a new Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the School Code. Provides that if a teacher (i) has been teaching in the public schools of this State for at least one year, (ii) received a rating of "satisfactory" or better performance on his or her last teacher evaluation, (iii) has never been a student teacher, and (iv) is receiving teacher training at a teacher training institution, then the teacher training institution may waive any student teaching requirement. Provides that if the teacher training institution does not waive such a requirement, then the institution must allow the teacher to student teach at the school where the teacher currently teaches.
