House Sponsors: OSMOND. Short description: MEDICAL PATIENT RIGHTS-CHARGES Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Medical Patient Rights Act. Provides for the right of each patient, in non-emergency care situations, to be informed by a physician whether that physician is a party to a contract with the patient's health services corporation or insurance company, if any, and participates in the provider network or panel maintained by the health care services organization or insurance company. Provides that if the physician is not a party to a contract with the patient's health care organization or insurance company, the physician must provide the patient with information concerning the itemized services to be rendered in non-emergency care settings and other matters. Provides for enforcement of these provisions by the Department of Professional Regulation.
