AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 923

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 923, on page 1, immediately below line 3, by inserting the following:

"Section 3. The State Officials and Employees Ethics Act is amended by adding Section 5-57 as follows:

(5 ILCS 430/5-57 new)

Sec. 5-57. Prohibition on simultaneous tenure for constitutional officers.

(a) It is unlawful for a person to be an executive branch constitutional officer or a legislative branch constitutional officer and to hold the office of county board member, township supervisor, township trustee, township assessor, or township clerk simultaneously.

(b) As used in this Section, "legislative branch constitutional officer" does not include the Auditor General.".
