HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate John A. Grande on the occasion of his retirement from a career in service to the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council, Carpenters Local 1539, and Carpenters Local 13; and

WHEREAS, John A. Grande, a second generation union carpenter, was initiated into Carpenters Local 1539 on October 2, 1986; he then completed a four-year apprenticeship; and

WHEREAS, John A. Grande served as assistant coordinator for the Mid-America Carpenters Apprentice & Training Program from 1997 to 2014, regional council representative from 2014 to 2024, Local 1539 trustee from 2001 to 2010, vice president from 2010 to 2014, financial secretary treasurer from 2014 to 2017, and president from 2017 to 2018; and

WHEREAS, John A. Grande became a regional council representative for Carpenters Local 13 and served as a regional council delegate after Local 1539 merged with Local 13; he was also a delegate to two UBC International conventions; and

WHEREAS, John A. Grande is passionate about the waterways of the Midwest, serving as the representative for the Carpenters at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and the vice president of the Chicago and Western Lakes Port Council; and

WHEREAS, John A. Grande is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, four wheeling, and many other activities; he is a fan of Big 10 football, especially the University of Illinois; he also enjoys spending time with his two daughters; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate John A. Grande on his retirement from a career in service to Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council, Carpenters Local 1539, and Carpenters Local 13; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to John A. Grande as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
