92_HB5610 LRB9211076DHmgA 1 AN ACT in relation to vehicles. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by 5 adding Section 1-117.7 and changing Section 11-1412.1 as 6 follows: 7 (625 ILCS 5/1-117.7 new) 8 Sec. 1-117.7. Electric personal assistive mobility 9 device. A self-balancing 2 non-tandem wheeled device 10 designed to transport only one person with an electric 11 propulsion system with average power of 750 watts (one 12 horsepower), whose maximum speed on a paved level surface, 13 when powered solely by a propulsion system of that type while 14 ridden by an operator weighing 170 pounds, is less than 20 15 miles per hour. 16 (625 ILCS 5/11-1412.1) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 11-1412.1) 17 Sec. 11-1412.1. Driving upon sidewalk. No person shall 18 drive any vehicle upon a sidewalk or sidewalk area except 19 upon a permanent or duly authorized temporary driveway. This 20 Section does not apply to any vehicle moved exclusively by 21 human power, to any electric personal assistive mobility 22 device, nor to any motorized wheelchair. 23 (Source: P.A. 84-672.)
