1 AN ACT concerning higher education.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by
5 adding Section 21 as follows:
6 (110 ILCS 305/21 new)
7 Sec. 21. Meningitis vaccine; information. At the
8 beginning of each semester, the University shall inform each
9 of its incoming freshmen and transfer students and the
10 student's parents or guardian about meningitis and its
11 transmission. The University shall require meningitis
12 vaccination, except for those students who provide the
13 University with a signed waiver indicating the student's
14 receipt of the information concerning meningitis and the
15 student's rejection of the vaccination. Any University
16 facility that delivers health services to University students
17 must offer meningitis vaccines. Nothing in this Section may
18 be construed to require the University to pay for the cost of
19 vaccination.
20 Section 10. The Southern Illinois University Management
21 Act is amended by adding Section 11 as follows:
22 (110 ILCS 520/11 new)
23 Sec. 11. Meningitis vaccine; information. At the
24 beginning of each semester, the University shall inform each
25 of its incoming freshmen and transfer students and the
26 student's parents or guardian about meningitis and its
27 transmission. The University shall require meningitis
28 vaccination, except for those students who provide the
29 University with a signed waiver indicating the student's

1 receipt of the information concerning meningitis and the
2 student's rejection of the vaccination. Any University
3 facility that delivers health services to University students
4 must offer meningitis vaccines. Nothing in this Section may
5 be construed to require the University to pay for the cost of
6 vaccination.
7 Section 15. The Chicago State University Law is amended
8 by adding Section 5-115 as follows:
