AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2574

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2574 on page 1, line 19, after "responsible.", by inserting: "A paramedic or firefighter may use the authority under this Section only when acting in accordance with policy established by the employing fire department or fire protection district. This policy shall require, at a minimum, that a paramedic or firefighter who removes an animal from a motor vehicle under this Section shall remain on the scene with the animal until an animal control officer or a law enforcement officer can take possession of the animal. If the owner takes possession, the paramedic or firefighter must report the incident to local law enforcement or animal control.".
